The general aim of the course is to help the student to understand and develop their knowledge of observing and assessing children so that they are able to use their findings to plan effectively for the play and education of the children they work with. Child care practitioners have a responsibility to know how to observe the children in their care in order to be able to successfully assess the stage of development they are at, and plan for their future. This course will help students to understand the importance of observing and assessing children and will encourage them to use what they have developed to further plan for the child's future.
