The Level 2 course in Event Planning aims to provide you with a good understanding of the nature of the event industry, as well as the practical skills and knowledge required to plan a small scale event. This qualification is open to all learners who have an interest in learning how to organise an event as well as those who are preparing to work, or who are already working in any job role which may involve organising an event.

At UK Open Learning we pride ourselves on our friendly and supportive tutors. Your tutor support will start as soon as you receive your course and will be valid for 12 months. All our tutors are highly qualified with extensive experience in supporting distance learning students. You contact your tutor via email and they are responsible for marking assignments answering your questions and guiding you through the course to ensure you are ready for your examinations.

No prior knowledge is necessary to study this course, although an interest in the subject would be an advantage.

We recommended you spend approximately 110 hours of your time studying for this course. The pace of study is completely up to you. To give an example, if you dedicate 2 hours a week to the course it would take you a year to complete but if you could spare 4 hours a week you could complete it in six months.

Module 1 - What is Event Planning and Management. Module 2 - Typical Work Activities. Module 3 - Why Do People Hire Event Planners? Module 4 - Benefits of a well-planned Event. Module 5 - The Planning and Timeline Process. Module 6 - Administering the event. Module 7 - Planning and Programming. Module 8 - What to Do When Things Go Wrong. Module 9 - Event Safety Checklist. Module 10 - Booking Accommodation. Module 11 - Bar Staff and Wine Service. Module 12 - Hiring a Band. Module 13 - Trade shows and exhibitions. Module 14 - Theme and Recreational Events. Module 15 - Staffing and recruiting.

There is no exam although you will be required to complete a series of assignments which you will send to your tutor when completed for marking and feedback. There are also regular Self-assessment Activities for you to monitor your own progress and understanding.

NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.

You will have to send in a series of assignments which your tutor will mark and return a feedback sheet to you with your results.
