This course is an introduction to the analysis of the causes and character of international conflict and cooperation. Theories of international relations are presented and then applied to historical cases to test those theories of international politics and to expand our understanding of the range of possible forms of international behavior. The recorded lectures are from the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences course Government 40. Students cannot count both GOVT E-1730 (previously offered) and GOVT E-40 toward a degree. (4 credits)
