Description

The History AS Level Course follows the Challenge and Transformation of Britain during Victorian and Edwardian periods (1851–1914) and also looks at America after the Second World War during its emergence as a superpower.   The course is designed to cover the AQA 7041 AS Level specification or a separate course is available for A Level should students prefer that option.  

This course is divided into the following units:

  1. Introductory Module: How to Study History at A-level (What is History & How to Find and Use Historical Sources)
  2. Challenge and Transformation: Britain, c1851–1964
    Victorian and Edwardian Britain, c1851–1914
  3. The American Dream: Reality and Illusion, 1945–1980

    Prosperity, Inequality and Superpower status, 1945–1963

Each lesson begins with a set of clearly stated objectives and an explanation of its place in the overall programme of study. Effective learning is encouraged through frequent activities and self- assessment questions. There are eight Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs) including a mock exam assignment.

On completion of their study students would arrange examinations with a local exam centre as a private candidate.
