The Beacom School of Business is continuously revising and updating the curriculum. In addition, their passion for expansion is plain to see. The Beacom School of Business is continuously revising and updating the curriculum. In addition, their passion for expansion is plain to see. First, the campus became home to a new student center which opened in 2008. Then, in August 2009, the School of Business moved into a brand new building and On top of that, the Business School created new housing for graduate students which opened in 2010, and most recently, in spring 2011, while a new wellness center was opened in spring 2011, with the announcement that there is more construction work to come. The Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree program emphasizes analytical and critical thinking skills, evaluation of alternative courses of action, understanding of the impact of the business environment on business decisions, and application of ethical principles in identifying and resolving business dilemmas.
The Beacom School of Business at the University of South Dakota has been continuously accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) since 1949. AACSB International Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in management education, and less than 5% of the world’s business schools enjoy this honor. The MBA program develops leaders for business, industry and government. The program emphasizes decision-making, problem solving, understanding the role of business in society and developing leadership ability. The Beacom School offers both a general MBA as well as an MBA with a Health Services Administration Specialization.

The Beacom School uses the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Major Field Test to monitor mastery of core business subject areas and overall achievement of its graduating students. Results in all subject areas have been consistently high with the overall mean at or above the 85th percentile for all students, both oncampus and distance, since 2008.

"This new building offers us a first-rate business school unmatched in the region, helping us develop the region's economy for the 21st century," said Michael Keller, dean of the Beacom School of Business. "That economy will be dependent on business innovation and entrepreneurial energy. The new building will support, encourage and incubate exactly that kind of energy." The Beacom School provides high-quality, affordable graduate business programs including both the MBA and the MPA (Master of Professional Accountancy). Both graduate programs are offered face-to-face as well as online; courses are the same and are taught by the same faculty regardless of delivery mode.
